Big Win to XLANSA Indoor Cricket Team!
After a disappointing last week, where we had to forfeit the match due to a lack of players, XLANSA bounced back with a stunning and convincing win against “Doyle’s Dream Team”
We started off with only 5 players, but -=[j]=- managed to get a player from the bar who had just finished a game to fill in for us.
We were warming up and the toss was won by DDT who sent us in to bat.
Phantom and fill-in Rick opened for XLANSA with a bit of a shaky start, after 5 balls we were -5. DDT’s first bowler definitely had a bit of speed and accuracy on him. Phantom and Rick managed to put on a very respectable score of 66, leading the charge for the free 6 pack for the highest score for each pair.
Next in came Solvent and Jeremy Fish. We did go back a little bit due to DDT’s fine fast bowler but once Solvent and Fish got their eyes in, there was no stopping them. They managed to get our score above the 100 mark with a fine 39 run stand.
Final pair -=[j]=- and Scotty didn’t let DDT’s fastie get in their way at all as they racked up a 70 run partnership. There was some very nice running in between the wickets and a couple of stolen singles that kept DDT on their toes.
So in we come, to defend our total of 175! It was an opening that would have the ACB taking notice.
Phantom comes in to send down the first over... -6. Rick managed to keep them in the minus score. Then after Solvent's over, we had them at -5.
At the end of the first 6 overs we were VERY confident of winning this game, as they managed to score only 10 runs.
The next 6 overs were a bit similar but DDT managed to add 23 runs to their score, bringing them to a total of 33 with 1 more batting pair to go.
They needed a massive 142 runs to draw the game and 143 to win it, and 71 runs to take the 6 pack away from -=[j]=- and Scotty. THERE WAS NO CHANCE OF THAT!
They batted valiantly, but fell well short of the 142 runs needed, scoring 49 runs in the last 6 overs.
XLANSA, 175 d. Doyle’s Dream Team, 82!
Very nice work fellas - let’s keep this winning streak going!
