XLANSA maintains 3rd spot in cricket!
XLANSA are maintaining 3rd spot on the indoor cricket ladder following an unusual last couple of games. The regular team has been boosted with some new players joining the line up.
The first week saw Mai-Hem rolling the arm over.
We played Runs-A-Plenty who are sitting a couple of games clear at the top of the ladder.
-=[j]=- and Phantom opened the batting with not the best start….-5 BUT they soon got their eyes in and ended up making a respectable 51.
In came Jeremy Fish and Mai-Hem batting second who pushed the singles singles and added another 23 to our score.
Solvent and Venge got off to a cracking start but a few late wickets had their score at 29.
In came Runs-A-Plenty!
Despite Mai-Hems first bowl nearly knocking out (the fielding) -=[j]=-, she did quite well with her constant change of pace that the batsmen struggled to deal with. Mai's fielding wasn’t too bad either with a classic catch to stop the high score of 13 runs from a bowl by catching it out off the rebounding back net.
In the end Runs-A-Plenty ran out 112 run winners.
Last night due to the long weekend and some other teams not playing, we were matched up with Runs-A-Plenty again.
This time we had the epic Fungus Mungus filling in for us.
Jeremy Fish and Venge opened up the batting with a smashing 36.
Phantom and -=[j]=- followed them up with a solid 63 run partnership and 3rd up were Solvent and Fungus Mungus.
Now, we have seen some lucky batters but what we saw last night took the cake. Twice the ball was hit only 1 metre away from the wicket and they managed to race through for a run each time.
Bowling was very controlled and up until the last 4 overs we were feeling confident as the scores were very close -but we had to take wickets. Phantom took charge with a superb captain’s effort, picking up 4 wickets in one over that really lifted the side. The elusive hat trick was tantalisingly close twice!
Unfortunately Runs-A-Plenty were a bit too good for us finishing with a 77 run win. The xlan team offering a much more competitive effort than the week before!.
