XLANSA Scores Historic Indoor Cricket Victory
The XLANSA indoor cricket team triumphed on monday night with a 69 run win 191 to 122- the first win of the season and elevating the team into a much stronger position on the B grade ladder. -=[j]=- (62) and PhantomX (16) opened the batting with a strong display of scoring, setting the foundation that was then carried on by Venge (52) and Jeremy Fish (28), with Solvent (12) and Hara (21) coming close to the 200 run innings mark in the last over. Some sneaky running between wickets after over throws and taking off whilst the bowlers were walking back to their marks also added to the oppositions frustration and added to the spectators amusement in the bar. J's score of 62 also broke the team record of 52 formerly held by both Venge and J.
A strong bowling display saw the opposition struggling to make runs with some tight returns and a number of early wickets placing pressure on the remaining batsmen to perform. Committed fielding resulted in the ball being cut off before hitting the side nets which reduced the scoring oppportunities and kept the chances for runouts happening. A bit of blood was spilt from carpet burns to the knees but bandaids can be worn with pride knowing that those runs were saved! The winners sixpack sure tasted sweet after the victory!
Thanks to Hara for filling in for RobX and Inky for hooking him up.
Games are played at the Camden Park ICA on monday nights. Cheer squads are always welcome. Ooh, ahh, XLANSA!
