Guidelines
A Quick list of Dos and Don'ts Do:
- Keep your replies related to the original topic. If you wish to talk about something else, create a new topic. This helps other users only read the material they are interested in.
- Ensure your posts are related to the forum they are on. Asking a question about Halo 2 in a Project Gotham 2 thread is dumb.
- Do post replies which contribute to the topic at hand. Replying with 'haha' or 'that sucks' is frowned upon.
- Do be conscientious with other forum users. Just because this is a web-based medium doesn't mean normal social rules don't apply.
Don't:
- Don't post eccessively violent, pornographic or offensive material of any sort. This includes material in the form of signatures, avatars, images, movies, sound bytes and text. Material deemed to be inappropriate by moderators or admin will be removed immediately and offenders will be warned.
- Don't post porn, links to porn, or other unsuitable material. If you believe a link you are posting may lead to offensive content, be sure to post a warning.
- Don't post defamatory material.
- Don't post content with excessive foul or abusive language.
- Don't use homosexually-based derogatory language. For example, "This lag is so gay". XLANSA is a non-discriminatory organisation.
- Don't post replies to old topics ("topic resurrection") unless you have something serious to add to the discussion.
- Don't use a large or otherwise obtrusive signature. In particular, do not put images, sounds or music in your signature. Signatures are to be a maximum of 5 lines of text only.
- Don't create an account with the purpose of impersonating another forum user.
- Don't post blatant inflammatory messages intended to start arguments, instead of conversation ("trolling").
- Software, music and film piracy is illegal. Discussion of these topics, the size of your pirate collection, links to sites advertising piracy, and instructions or how-to information will get you banned. This is an inflexible rule.
- Don't discuss the process of Xbox modding, Xbox mod retailers or things you can do with your modded Xbox on this site. This is the best way to keep everyone happy.
- Lastly, do not post messages complaining about removal of content ("nuking"). Forum moderators may remove content as they see fit; if you don't agree with their policies, buy a Playstation and go elsewhere.
If you do any of these things, you may be warned or banned, at the discretion of the administrators of this site and its forums.
General Forum Statement Flaming and Trolling is stupid and doesn't contribute to better gaming. Advertising is not appreciated. If you have a link that is relevant, gaming-related or otherwise interesting to a large number of users by all means post it, but joining our forums merely to advertise or sell your product won’t be accepted by moderators. Doing this will result in your posts being deleted and your membership may be terminated.
Do not post in entirety the contents of other sites. If there is a great review or piece of information on another site then quote from it, crediting the source, or link to it. Do not copy and paste what may be someone else’s intellectual property into our forums.
The decisions of moderators are not open for public discussion. If you wish to question a moderator’s choice in banning users, or in deleting posts or locking threads, then contact the moderator directly. Any attempts to insult a moderator on these boards will result in you getting kicked. Believe it.
The language spoken on these forums is English. Try to use a decent approximation of this language when posting here. Coarse language is permitted to a degree, but keep in mind that there may be younger users browsing these forums; as such excessive cursing will not be tolerated. Capital letters and full stops go a long way towards ensuring the readability of your posts and reducing moderator’s levels of ire.
Refrain from double posting, i.e. when you have forgotten to add text to a post, instead of posting another reply, edit your original post. This helps to keep the forums clutter free.
Help using the forums If you need help in navigating, posting, editing or using any part of the forums, your first port of call should be the help pages. The help pages are located as a link in the same navigation area as the link to these guidelines. If you are still a little bewildered, please contact one of the moderators, or an administrator, and they will help you to resolve your difficulties.
Signatures In order to make this forum enjoyable for all users, whether they surf with broadband or dialup, signatures have been limited to text format, and should be no more than 5 lines long. You can use quotes, sayings, or link to a particular site that you like in your signature. Signatures are subject to the general forum rules and as such any links to material or text in your signature that breaches those rules will get you a warning and your signature will be deleted. Yes, this does mean that you can't have picture signatures. However, you can use an avatar of your choice, as long as it conforms to the guidelines in the avatar section.
Avatars An avatar is the customisable graphic that appears next to your name in every post you make. You can link to your own avatar or use one of our standard ones. Simply click on 'My Controls', then 'Edit Avatar Settings', and follow the instructions.
"1337" speak Please avoid using "leet speak" in the forums. We know it may seem cool, but our older members have trouble decyphering it. We at XLANSA pride ourselves on being able to spell our words in full. We also find it beneficial to be able to speak in coherent sentences. We feel that if you give it a try, you will like it too.
Reporting If you believe any of these rules, guidelines, terms and conditions etc. have been violated, report the incident to an XLANSA administrator or related moderator. Please include as much detailed information as possible, such as gamer tags of the individuals concerned, dates and times, topics and transcripts of messages. To report a specific post in a thread to a moderator, move to that particular post and click the "report" icon in the top right hand corner of the post (next to the "quote" icon). XLANSA cannot guarantee that any action will be taken as a result of your report.
Warnings & Bans Warnings are given out to members who break forum rules, such as posting off-topic, hijacking threads or nuking. XLANSA employs the 3 strikes and you're out rule.
Depending on the severity of your offence, your first warning may result in a short suspension, at the discretion of the XLANSA administration. If you continue to break rules after you have been warned, you will be given a second warning and be banned from posting for 2 weeks. If you still do not abide by the forum rules after this, you will be blacklisted for a minimum of 6 months.
If you receive a warning, you will be sent an email to the address you used when you signed up to XLANSA. It will inform you of how many warnings you currently have, the consequences of receiving the warning, and remind you of the outcomes of any further warnings.
Warnings will remain in effect for a period of 3 months from the calendar date they were issued. If, at the end of that time, no further warnings have been issued or bans given, your warning level will be reset. Blacklisting will remain in effect for a period of no less that 6 months from the start of the ban, and may continue for a further period of time if deemed appropriate by the administration.
Appeals If you believe you have been banned from the XLANSA forums harshly or unjustly, you may appeal the decision. To do this you must send an email detailing the alleged reasons you were banned, and why this was unjust or incorrect. Detailed supporting material is required to back your appeal, such as dates and times of posts, content of posts and a reasoned argument against the ban. Your appeal will be reviewed by the administrators of the site and their findings will be final.

Piracy is illegal; pirated software and mods for Xbox or other consoles will not be discussed on this site. This will get you immediately banned.
Buyers Do not spam the trading threads or drag them off-topic. If you want to post something that doesn't relate to the trading forum, find the appropriate forum or post a new topic in the off-topic forum. Be very specific with your offer. If there are multiple items up for sale and/or trade, make sure you list which item you are after.
Commercial Entities Posts/Calendar items and any other material of a commercial nature will be removed unless prior consent has been granted by the XLANSA Administration. If you wish to advertise via XLANSA, please email or PM an Admin.
