Black Review

Black is a game that I must recommend everyone plays at least once. It offers us some serious eye candy and gives a taste of things to come.

Every part of each level is crammed full of detail, some areas looking almost real. Gorgeous lighting effects shine beams through windows, and the screen flares up when you look at the sun. Everywhere you look, there is always more to see. The level of detail is amazing – for example, you can retrace your steps after a firefight by simply following the trail of spent shell casings on the ground.

This game has been made to draw you in to the action. Most areas have gas cylinders and fuel tanks, so you can explode your way through many environments. Shooting out the gas tank on a truck is a great way to clear out the enemy. If you like the sound of breaking glass, you will be delighted to know there are literally thousands of windows. These two things combine to provide very loud and exciting dogfights.

A good portion of each map is destructible, which adds greatly to the atmosphere. With nothing short of amazing particle effects you will love indoor gun battles, multiple enemies, bits of walls and concrete being shot off, grenades throwing dirt and debris into the air. It’s quit impressive. Through some small rooms you can even use your shotgun to make your own doors.
